Peace First

Welcome to the notebook project, launched in collaboration with Peace First.

The past few months, for most of us, have been some of the most unusual of our lives. For many of us, community feels far away and loneliness has been more present than ever. Isolated from the world, we've been making our own worlds of creativity, confusion, pain and catharsis. To document these new worlds, we've launched the notebook project. A notebook will be sent from person to person across the UK, to which every recipient will add a page of their own writing/art describing their daily thoughts, struggles and joys in this time unlike any other – creating a collaborative anonymous scrapbook-diary of life under lockdown.

Once you receive the notebook, we ask that you try to take no more than a week to complete your page. If you change your mind about participating for any reason, or if you are unable to afford postage costs, no problem - please email imogen.malpas@gmail.com to request assistance.

To make sure this project represents all experiences of quarantine, we particularly encourage contributions from BIPOC & LGBTQ+ people.

What's Peace First?

Peace First is a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping young people around the world to become powerful peacemakers by investing in their ideas, providing them with tools and skills, connecting them with others worldwide and sharing their impact with the world.

How do I sign up?

Please sign up using this link.

How does it work?

When you sign up with your first name and email

address, these details will be added to a list to which

only the project coordinator has access. When you

receive the notebook in the post, please contact the

coordinator via the email address listed in the front

inside cover of the notebook. The coordinator will pass

on to you the name and contact details of the next

recipient. You can then get in touch directly to request

their mailing address.

What should I write?

The page you contribute can be as personal or as abstract as you wish. You can share your thoughts and experiences of quarantine, as well as drawing, creative writing, etc. To ensure  anonymity for everyone, please fill out a random page in the notebook when you receive it (not the next available page). This prevents recipients from linking the identity of the previous recipient to the contents of their contribution, and gives everyone confidence that their contribution will remain anonymous.
